The experience

Taste Apulian olive oil and wine in the same place where they are grown and produced: visit an authentic local farm

Do you want to visit an authentic local farm where extra virgin olive oil and 4 different kinds of wine are organically produced?
The tasting tour takes you to the great area known as Cento Masserie (Hundred Farmhouses) of Puglia, in an ancient farm of the 18th Century.
Terrachevive.com makes you discover a place in which time seems to have stopped, where nature still reigns in all its beauty: surrounded by the majestic hills of the Murgia tarantina, the farm houses 1200 centuries-old olive trees, whose average age is 700 years, and a monumental specimen of about 1000 years. The typical muretti a secco (dry-stone walls) and the luxuriant Mediterranean scrub delimit 10 hectars of organic vineyards.
The tour takes you through the interiors and exteriors of the farm and will tell about the oil and wine production process. A journey full of information, between tradition and innovation, in places with a great naturalistic and historical charm.
At the end of the tour you can enjoy the quality of the organic products grown in the farm, a taste of the generous Puglia.

A journey through the centuries

The farm preserves unchanged the ancent “jazzo” (an inner courtyard where wheat was harvested in the past and farmers spent their time together when they were not engaged in their daily hard work), a path used during the past centuries for the transhumance of cattle from the mountain areas to the pasture, a small consecrated church, the citrus grove, the storehouses with vaulted ceilings, now transformed in a cosy museum full of tools belonging to the rural civilisation.
You will walk among olive trees, seeing their fascinating different shapes, which are real natural sculptures shaped by the wind and the seasons, and you will admire up close their great beauty.
The variety of olives organically grown in this farm are Ogliarola and Leccino.
The 10 hectares of organic espalier vineyards are divided into the following types: cultivar Primitivo, Negroamaro, Aleatico, Chardonnay, Riessling and Sauvignon.
The number of specimens per hectare, the soil particular nutritional characteristics, the modern techniques of organic farming and the love of the owners for their farm allow a limited production of oil and wine while maintaining a very high quality standard.
You will be the one to discover with your eyes and taste this Apulian gem: taste it to believe it!

Wonderful experience and a charming Rosaria made the tour of the property and explained the history of olive oil production there- including the old one in the underground. Very interesting. Rosaria also made us test the olive oil in a way so that we could truly experience the difference in various types of olives as well as to acknowledge different qualities. Super experience – highly recommended!

It was a wonderful experience. Visiting a masseria with an underground olive milk was a bucket list item when we wanted to explore puglia. We got a guided tour of the olive farm, a warm introduction to the various kinds of olives, a visit and working of an ancient oil mill and a modern workings and window into the production of extra virgin olive oil. We were amazed and how detailed the tour was and we learned a lot. The highlight of the tour was the olive oil tasting. We got to experience newly extracted olive oil before and after filtering. It was one to remember. We highly recommend taking the tour even if it is not olive oil season. Giorgio and his family will not fail to impress.
