The farmhouse

The ancient 1600’s farmhouse is located in a small village in an area known as Alto Salento, famous for the production of olive oil, for high quality wines and for the crystal blue Ionian Sea, that washes its coasts.
The farmhouse still preserves its rural charm which made it one of the biggest farmhouses of the area in the past. There are still traces of its glorious productive past; in particular, one can still find:

• the ancient semi-hypogeous oil mill dating back to the 1700s. It was dug in the local stone, has a characteristic vaulted ceiling and in the past it was used to produce olive oil. Now it houses a cosy tasting room;
• the cellar, where past and present coexist thanks to the presence of modern machineries used to produce the fine Apulian wine and the ancient barrique cellar, where the wine is aged in wooden barrels.

The ancient farming customs you can take part in

During the warm summer nights you can experience the following re-enactments:

• “Arts and crafts of the past”: together with authentic Apulian grandmothers you can make various types of bread and pasta, following our ancient traditions. During these making classes, you will also have the opportunity to taste “pettole” (a traditional dish) and wines produced by the farm.
  The atmosphere will be even more charming thanks to the ancient and captivating folk dances, whose music will be played alive.
  This is followed by the outdoor dinner, during which you will experience the ancient ritual of “Pucciata”, that is the lightening of a wood-burning oven by the eldest grandmother of the family to bake “pucce”. Once these pucce are taken out of the oven, they are served with delicious local products.
• “Wine cellar tour”: before the traditional dinner, you can take part in a captivating tour to discover how Apulian wine is produced. One of the most fascinating stages is the visit to the ancient barrique cellar where you can taste wine on tap.
• “Dancing the Pizzica”: you will get to know and dance the famous “Pizzica”, an ancient dance from Salento, whose rhythm is joyful and captivating. After the traditional dinner, the guests can learn how to dance this beautiful melody from Salento.
