This tour is a unique experience that combines the rural charm of Puglia with one of its most appreciated products in the world: mozzarella.
The excursion takes you along countryside paths that will lead to admire glimpses of beautiful landscapes. Beside the sight, however, we aim to appeal all your senses including, of course, touch and taste. How? We will make you participate in a workshop on the preparation of mozzarella of Gioia del Colle, a cheese product that is so popular that it has being recognised as POD.
An expert cheesemaker will teach you all the steps of the production process, such as how curd is transformed into pasta filata and how this, hot and steaming, is transformed into a delicious mozzarella.
After getting your hands “dirty”, it will be time for a taste, a unique opportunity to enjoy one of the most appreciated Apulian gastronomic products.

The tour

The e-bike tour starts from the Gioia del Colle train station heading towards Matera.
Along the way, we will ride along typical Murgia paths dotted with cultivated fields alternated with limestone rocks.
Along the way, we will also cross ancient fortified farmhouses and iazzi that were used in the past during transhumance.
We will then stop at a farmhouse located in an authentic rural setting where sheep, lambs and other farmyard animals are raised.
In this private location, halfway between Gioia del Colle and the beautiful Matera, our master cheesemaker will be waiting for us and will guide us through the cheese-making workshop.
After the tasting, we will ride back to Gioia del Colle.
