The bike tour will take us on a discovery of the Torre Guaceto marine reserve, a naturalistic oasis of around 1,800 hectares that stretches along a coastal stretch bathed by the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea.
Riding e-bikes along the reserve’s paths, we will discover the great biodiversity that only nature in Puglia can offer.
Different types of habitats are preserved and protected here: marshes, coastal dunes up to 10 metres high, an ancient Saracen tower, Mediterranean scrub, reed thickets and freshwater lakes.
In such a rich and varied natural environment, there is, of course, no shortage of birds and amphibians.
We will cycle and discover the most striking corners of the reserve, the bright colours of nature such as the intense green of the Mediterranean scrub mirrored in the pools of fresh water fed by natural springs.
The guide will provide lots of information and interesting stories about this specific area of Puglia…and much more! We will share its history and why, for example, it guards an ancient Aragonese defence tower dating back to 1500.
During the tour, we will stop at the observatory where we will enjoy a panoramic view of the Torre Guaceto reserve.
Afterwards, we will take part in a snorkelling session, diving into the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea bordering the natural area. The colours of the sea, thanks to the shallow, sandy seabed dotted with outcropping rocks, will make you feel as if you are swimming in the Caribbean Sea.
