The experience

Visit a magnificent olive grove and taste olive oil produced in an old farm in Puglia

We want to take you in a charming place with a deep history: an old masseria (farmhouse) in Ostuni where you will walk around a millennial olive tree grove, visiting the most ancient frantoio ipogeo (underground olive oil mill) of Puglia, tasting organic extra virgin olive oil in the shade of a magnificent 170 year old pine. Take part at this unforgettable tour!

This old Apulian masseria is located in Ostuni – the world famous Città Bianca (White City), not far from the Adriatic Sea, where lots of tourists stop in to see its panoramas and its enchanting old town.
As well as the city of Ostuni itself, the farmhouse still keeps precious and hidden treasures enough to be recognised as a sustainable tourism destination.
At the masseria the organic production method is used to obtain top quality extra virgin olive oil respecting the surrounding environment and keeping a balanced relationship, so that its architectural and natural characteristics are being preserved.

From millennial olive trees to an old underground olive oil mill

Let’s have a walk in the park of various shaped, ancient olive trees of different dimension, which are icons of Apulia’s soul. You will listen their compelling history; you will learn their main characteristics and the techniques used to produce organic EVO oil.
The Grande Vecchio, the oldest olive tree in Apulia – about 3000 years old, will stand right in front of your eyes!

After the walk, the tour will continue inside the masseria and its fortified walls. The guide will let you travel back in time over the centuries by narrating the history of its construction, the crafts working inside it, the reasons why it has fortified walls. Then you will jump back in the present to see how this Apulian masseria is being managed while keeping untouched its rural peculiarities.

The tour even includes a visit to the oldest Apulian frantoio ipogeo (underground olive mill) which around 3000 years ago was used to produce olive oil by the Messapians, a tribe coming from Illyria that settled down in Apulia. The olive mill shows also Roman and Medieval evidence within it; all these traces are the subject of great archaeological interest.

Our organic extra virgin olive oil is Apulia’s “green gold”

At the end of the tour of the most suggestive parts of this ancient masseria in Ostuni, it’s time to taste the crown jewel of our land: four different types of organically grown extra virgin olive oil.
A professional olive oil expert will teach you about organoleptic properties of Apulian olive oil.
